Mya at 8 Weeks Old

Appearance:

Mya’s coat is mostly white, adorned with soft light tan markings that make her irresistibly unique. Her tan accents gently cover her ears and frame her eyes, creating a subtle yet striking look. A small tan spot is beginning to form between her ears, right at the center of her head, adding to her charm. She also has a distinctive tan patch on the left side of her back and another at the base of her tail. To top it off, the tip of her right ear features a slightly deeper tan, giving her even more character.

Personality:

Even at just 8 weeks old, Mya’s personality is shining through. She’s a delightful mix of playful feistiness and heart-melting sweetness. She loves snuggling up for quiet moments and thrives on human connection. Mya enjoys spending time with her entire family—her sisters, mom, dad, and her adopted brother, Chico. While she’s full of energy during playtime, she also has a signature way of relaxing: sleeping on her back and soaking up all the belly rubs she can get!

Milestones:

From a young age, Mya has been impressively capable. She began using pee pads at just 3 weeks old and has already had her nails clipped twice. By the second nail-trimming session, she was old enough to enjoy some tasty treats as a reward. She also braved her first bath with ease and handled it like a seasoned pro.

When it comes to food, Mya transitioned to kibble at 5 weeks old and was later introduced to wet food, which she has taken a liking to. Her favorite treats so far are dehydrated chicken and sardines—both of which she devours eagerly!

Training and Desensitization:

Mya is about to begin her formal training journey next week, but she’s already making great progress in preparation. To get her comfortable with water and rain, we’ve used a hose to simulate rainfall, which she has adapted to wonderfully. She and her siblings even have their own puppy pool and have started climbing in on their own. By introducing the pool both with and without water, they’ve gradually become more confident and at ease.

We’re also working on desensitizing Mya to everyday interactions. To ensure she feels safe and comfortable, we gently wake her from naps or lightly startle her to help her adjust to unexpected situations. Regularly handling her ears, paws, tail, and teeth is also part of her routine, helping her get used to being touched. These steps are important for making future vet visits and interactions with her owner stress-free and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Meet little Miss Mya! This sweet, spunky pup has completely stolen our hearts—especially my oldest daughter’s. The moment Mya sees her, she practically explodes with excitement. At just 9 weeks old, she’s still navigating her way through the world, including conquering the mystery of stairs!

One day, our curious little adventurer decided she wasn’t about to let me leave the house without her. As I stepped out the door, she made a bold attempt to follow me. If you’re familiar with Jack Russell Terriers, you know how lightning-fast they are—even as puppies! That day, I was heading out to take my youngest to an appointment when I received a worried call from my oldest daughter just moments after I left.

When I answered, she frantically explained that Mya had tried to follow me and had taken a tumble down the stairs. My heart sank. I couldn’t rush back immediately since we were about to be called in for the appointment, but thankfully we were out within 10 minutes. I hurried home as fast as I could to check on her.

Poor Mya was limping and unable to put weight on her back leg, hopping around instead. I didn’t waste a second and immediately called the vet to schedule an exam. A couple of days later, I breathed a sigh of relief when the vet assured me there were no fractures and her joints were perfectly fine!

I explained how, despite her fall, Mya was still her happy-go-lucky self—eating, drinking, and even attempting to play like nothing had happened. The vet recommended strict rest, a six-day course of pain medication, and a follow-up appointment in two weeks to monitor her recovery.

Fast forward three days, and I’m thrilled to say the medication is working wonders! But keeping a lively puppy on bed rest? Let’s just say it’s a challenge. If you’ve ever tried to keep a Jack Russell Terrier calm, you’ll understand. Still, Mya is already bouncing back—testing out her leg, playing, and even running a bit, though she occasionally hops. The vet assured me this is normal during her healing process.

With a house full of other Jack Russells, keeping Mya calm is a full-time job. The barking, crying, and howling from the pack keep me constantly on my toes, trying to maintain a peaceful environment. Thankfully, we’ve found a routine that works. Mya gets a little supervised playtime to stretch her legs, but for rest, I keep her close. Most of the time, she’s snuggled up on the couch with me, entertained by her favorite toy and a goat’s milk cheese stick—lifesavers for keeping her still!

**UPDATE**

Great news—Miss Mya is back to her lively, playful self! At her follow-up appointment, the vet confirmed she’s in perfect shape—no fractures, healthy joints, and no need for further medication. She’s running, playing, and using her leg without any issues. Whether she’s chasing her sister or zipping around the yard, it’s as if the fall never happened.

Seeing her happy, healthy, and full of energy again is such a relief. This little pup’s resilience warms my heart every single day, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see her back to her mischievous, joyful self!

**UPDATE**

Meet Mya, a 12-week-old puppy and the last of her litter still waiting to find her forever home. This little sweetheart is a true gem with a personality that can light up any room. Just like her mama, Mya is calm, affectionate, and full of love—though she also enjoys her playful and mischievous moments!

Mya is already making amazing progress with her training. She recognizes her name, occasionally comes when called, and understands commands like “Mya, no!” and “Good girl.” She’s mastered the “sit” command and is excelling in her potty training. As for mealtime, Mya prefers to free-feed throughout the day, taking her time to enjoy her meals—except when it comes to wet food, which she devours with enthusiasm!

She’s also starting to grasp the concept of “wait” and shows improvement every day with consistent practice. Mya absolutely adores people and thrives on affection, happily following you around as your loyal little shadow. Even rainy days don’t bother her much—unless it’s a heavy downpour, of course!

When it’s bedtime, Mya has the routine down perfectly. She always heads outside for one last potty break before snuggling in for the night. Once she’s settled, she sleeps soundly until morning, ready to greet the new day with her cheerful spirit.

Mya is an exceptional puppy with so much love to give. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt her will gain a devoted companion and a lifelong best friend!

Mya adores sitting by the window, but if her mom is already there, she’ll let out a little cry for help. She can’t climb onto the bench by herself to get to her favorite spot.

Mya is incredibly affectionate and adores being around people. She’s so attached that she even follows me into the bathroom while I’m showering! It seems impossible to enjoy a moment alone because she always wants to be right by my side.

Mya is a dream companion on car rides—no crying, no car sickness, just peaceful vibes. That said, she does get a little restless if she’s not perfectly cozy.

Lately, it seems Mya has discovered her favorite spot to relax while cruising. It’s like she’s claimed it as her own little sanctuary.

I just can’t get enough of her! She’s full of personality and never fails to brighten my day with her charm.

Mya absolutely adores car rides. She’s so clever that the mere jingle of car keys gives it all away. The moment I grab them, she comes sprinting over, her tail wagging uncontrollably with excitement. If I ever leave without her, the heartbreak in her eyes is unmistakable. Yet, nothing compares to the pure joy she shows when I—or anyone in the family—walks through the door.

She shares an incredible bond with my oldest daughter, lighting up with happiness whenever she’s close. Unfortunately, I can’t welcome another female dog into our home. With three Jack Russells already—and only two hands to keep everyone in check—it wouldn’t be safe to risk any potential scuffles.

As I was getting ready to hop in the shower before bed, guess who came racing after me? It seems I can’t take a single step in the house without her following right behind!

After letting her out for a bit and settling her in with her mama, I thought she’d stay put for the night. But no—just minutes later, I heard a soft scratching at the bathroom door. I opened it, and there she was—Mya, sitting calmly, waiting for me with the unwavering loyalty only she has.

Meet Mya, our 14-week-old bundle of pure joy! She's a champion snuggler and always ready to wind down for the night. But be warned—she's a notorious pillow thief! By the time I finally crawl into bed, my pillow has transformed into her royal throne. Come morning, I usually wake up sprawled across the mattress. Sharing a bed with this fluffy companion has its challenges, but honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Here’s Mya cozied up with her mama. One of her sweetest quirks is curling up around my neck, soaking up every bit of warmth she can find. If it gets too warm, she’ll shift a little, but she never drifts too far away. She’s the ultimate cuddle bug, through and through!

Mya's First walk at 14 weeks old. AUGUST 17th, 2024

This evening, I had the pleasure of taking Mya on her very first walk, accompanied by Mama Mia and Sister Ava. She did wonderfully! While she paused a few times along the way, we made sure to take short breaks whenever she needed to rest.

Our usual walks typically last over an hour, but Mya’s tiny legs aren’t ready for such long adventures just yet. A few times, she got a bit tired and needed to be carried—young pups, after all, thrive on short, gentle walks. After each break, I carried her closer to home, and once we were near, I let her walk the final stretch. It was a perfect opportunity for her to start learning the way back to the house.

Mya enjoys lounging by the window, just like her mom and her big sister Ava. She hasn’t started barking yet, but I have a feeling it won’t be long—especially with Ava as her inspiration, LOL. Ava sometimes lets out a bark or a playful growl, but it’s always within limits because I make sure to set clear boundaries. At the same time, I believe it’s important to let dogs be themselves and express their natural instincts!

Mya has a new home.

Mya is the perfect mix of energy and affection. She’s always ready for a game or an adventure but equally loves curling up for snuggles, giving kisses, and soaking up all the love she can get. Cuddling is absolutely her favorite pastime. ❤️

Meet the one and only Miss Silly Mya – truly one of a kind!

It’s hard to put into words just how difficult it is to say goodbye to a puppy.

In the six months Miss Mya was with us, she stole my heart completely—what a little charmer she was.

I already miss her more than I can express.

Whenever I needed comfort, I’d pick her up, and she was always right there, eager for attention or content to simply curl up nearby for some pets. She loved showering everyone with kisses 💋 and radiated pure joy. Her sweet, happy personality brought light to every single moment we shared.

When she left yesterday, I felt the weight of her absence deeply. She changed my life in ways I can’t fully explain. That’s just how special she is. While her mama, my Mia, will always hold a place as my everything, Miss Mya brought a unique kind of love and vibrance into my world.

She wasn’t just meant to go to anyone—she deserved an extraordinary home.

Thankfully, that’s exactly what she has now. Her new family is everything I could have dreamed of for her—gentle, calm, and devoted dog lovers who will care for her in the best possible way. Knowing she’s in such loving hands gives me so much peace.

And the best part? I still get to see her!

Miss Mya has adjusted wonderfully to her new home! Following in her mom’s footsteps, she’s training to become an exceptional service dog 🐕‍🦺. It’s a perfect match, and we’re confident she’ll thrive in her new role.

We’re so excited to see her amazing journey unfold!
